EVENT RECAP: The Power of Consumer Voice in Product Innovation: DEWmocracy

Last month, Mountain Dew revealed the details of their DEWmocracy program:

...a comprehensive open communications platform that relies on the collective intelligence of loyal consumers to shape the direction of the brand and Mountain Dew innovation pipeline.

Launched in July 2009, DEWmocracy 2 is a twelve month, seven stage campaign that will result in the production of a completely user generated Mountain Dew beverage.

MMHighlights was invited to participate in the DEWmocracy and received the chance to experience a condensed version of the DEWmocracy program and meet the consumers who have actually designed the next Mountain Dew products.

EVENT RECAP: Nolcha Independent Retail Week Fashion Designers Preview

Nolcha held its Fashion Designer Brand preview at The Clarins on 80th and Madison in NYC, Friday November 20. Attendees got to preview designs from handbag designers Schander, Jess Rizzuti, and Chako Tokyo, as well as Jewelry from Maleku Jewelry and the Fall/Winter clothing line of Anastasia Chatka. All the handbags are available for purchase at Sarar at 375 Madison Avenue at 46th Street. Jess Rizzuti and Schander Designs are also available at Mini Centro Shoes on 59 Nassau Street.

Besides getting to oogle fabulous jewelry, clothes and handbags, guests were able to get hand, neck, and back massages, along with a full facial and choice of makeup, so you could leave better looking and more relaxed than when you first entered - or a little tipsy if you had one too many beers or barcardi sangria (really good stuff).

EVENT RECAP: The Cell Blackboard Reading Series - Homage 1: ILLMATIC

Monday night MMHighlights got the chance to check out the reading of a play written by Shaun Neblett titled Homage 1: ILLMATIC. He' s one of the Playwrights featured in the ongoing Blackboard series. Every aspect of the reading from the content, the clever insertation of rhymes, the direction and the overall quality of work was really good for a work in progress - The lead character "Ron" (the protagonist) played by Bruce Lemon/ and the antagonist "Will" played by Clinton Lowe did a really good job of taking us out of the Cell Theater and placing us into the real scenes of the apartment, the street, the classroom etc.

Shaun Neblett is a Harlem based writer and teaching artist. His plays and work with youth have been showcased and produced throughout New York. Illmatic is the first play from Shaun's "7 Homages for 7 MC's", a cycle of seven plays that honor and are written in the sprit of seven classic hip-hop albums.

The Blackboard Reading Series is devoted to the Black playwright and occurs every 2nd Monday of the Month. These evenings give one playwright a chance to have their entire work read and discussed.

The cell is any artist’s dream: a new space that supports you as you grow, committed to new work and the art. This allows the writer to focus on the craft - to focus on their story.

EVENT RECAP: Leading Ladies Part Deux

This past week, Cool.Cruel.World Cocoa Luv hosted the second installment of their "Ladies Night". Cocoa's inspiration for the event came from watching the music video for the 90's summer hit "Ladies Night" featuring Missy E, The Brat, Lil Kim, etc. According to Cocoa she feels there is no longer the comaderie in the industry between females so she wanted to create an environment in which inspiring, beautiful, and talented females that are part of the industry could be showcased. She took it a step further by conducting in-depth interviews with these notable females for their peers, fans and colleagues to see.

Featured in the Leading Ladies Part Deux interview series was DJ/Emcee, Jasmine Solano (as seen on the MMH youtube channel); Morning After and Lip Service radio host, Angela Yee; media personality, Dee Vasquez; and DJ/Producer, DJ Nire. In their own words, these "leading ladies" talked about their careers, in addition to their own personal tidbits - Yee spoke about her love for and collection of shoes, while Dee enlightened us on her history and experience in the entertainment industry. Overall the night was inspiring and unique...keep it up CCW!

EVENT RECAP: Mizani Exclusive VIP Independent Beauty Event

Sunday, November 15, industry beauty professionals and media in the New York metropolitan area were all invited to attend an independent beauty event hosted by MIZANI, a brand of L’Oreal, USA. Attendants were invited to see Mizani Newest Hair Styles and the unveiling of their newest product line. Also included were the Mizani models, complimentary cocktails, and good music. In addition to Mizani, in attendance were reps from Z-Line, the organic hair product line.

Textured hair with its unique properties and characteristics require special needs, instruction and ability to achieve the best results. EVENT RECAP: SHC “Home for the Holidays" On A Budget Event

This past Tuesday, MMH was invited to attend Sears' "Home for The Holidays - On a Budget" Event. The event which featured a secret celebrity chef, included a special guest appearance from Jaclyn Smith forecasting some of the best budget friendly decorating trends and SHC’s Chief Home Design Officer, Theresa Strickland. The secret chef was Art Smith (author of Back to the Family, among other cookbooks).

We received an exclusive, advance opportunity to experience and cover these exciting “hands-on” vignettes, featuring this season’s holiday product rollouts. “The Accidental Housewife,” Julie Edelman was also on site offering gift ideas and time-saving tips, while Art Smith was on location demonstrating cooking tips.

Jaclyn discussed some of her influences (i.e. the 18th century) when creating her designs. In a collaborative effort, she and Theresa described the practicality and aesthetic value behind a table setting, which featured vibrant holiday color palettes. Theresa then walked guests through the latest in Kenmore kitchen products (some of which were available in attendee give bags). Rick discussed Simple trends.

Adrienne Bailon Celebrates Her Birthday In NYC!

The lovely and talented Adrienne Bailon had her birthday party last night at Pink Elephant, a swanky club in the Chelsea area. MMHIghlights was invited to this exclusive Halloween themed event, full of hors d'oeuvres, specialty drinks, and live belly dancers and boy, it was fun.

With music spinning by DJ Clue, there were a lot of beautiful people in the building including Sean Garrett, DJ Cassidy, Angie Martinez, Miss Info, Mashonda, Angela Simmons, Ryan Leslie, and Julissa Bermudez. Pictures after the jump.

EVENT RECAP: Power 105.1's Powerhouse Concert

Last night, at Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey, Power 105.1 brought together a number of heavy hitters in hip-hop and R & B - Chris Brown, Fabolous, Keri Hilson, the Dream, Ginuwine, Trey Songz, Mario, and Day 26 - not to mention a few other notable guests, such as Jim Jones and Ron Browz.

The performances were electrified and had the crowds wanting more; with grinding dance moves and charges lyrics, it was money well spent.

Last Night's Launches: Letoya Luckett & Aubrey O'Day

Last night was a busy night in NYC with the launch of Aubrey O'day's newest addition to he line and the launch of Letoya Luckett's sophomore album.

Dare to Love for Aubrey's Heart On My Sleeve clothing line features the same fun, graphic tees and more that HOMS is known for.

Lady Love, Letoya Luckett's sopomore album, which features tracks such as "She Aint Got..." "Not Anymore" and "Love Rollercoaster" featuring Mims, launched last night with the help of Patty Laurent, Good Girl PR, and Sprite Green.

Event Recap: J'Adore Fashion Show

Last Thursday, at BLVD in NYC, Epiphany 34 hosted its premiere fashion show - J'Adore. J'Adore - which in Frech means "I Adore" - featured a number of young (one designer was 16 years old) talent. Designers included Tremaine Angevine Collection, Onye Gelora, 5001 Flavors, Beautiful You Boutique, and The Fabric Twinz. The show also included performances by singer, Sincere, and rapper, LC; in addition to an after party that lasted well into the night.

Event Recap: G-Shock - Shock the World 2009 + Kanye West

This past Wednesday CAsio brand G-Shock hosted its annual press conference: Shock THe World 2009. This event featured a number of Casio and G-Shock execs talking about the G-Shock watch brand - "not just a fashion watch..." A demonstration of the watch's durability (the watches were frozen in ice for 3 days yet still working) and an exhibition of all the watches were also a part of the evening.

Also on site was Tourneau VP of Marketing announcing that the Tourneau Time Machine in NYC (57th Street) would be carrying the Model MTG (retail $600) this coming 4th quarter. Sports Ambassadors for the brand such as surfer Gabe Kling and snowboarder Matt Hamme were also there to celebrate the new additions to the G-Shock family, including the Mini G Watches - which launched in Japan in 2005 and will be available in the US in the Fall.

Mister Cartoon (celebrity and world renowned tattoo & graffiti artist) was there to announce his collaboration with the brand.

After the press conference, guests were engaged in the G-Shock exhibition, as well as the open bar. These provided good distractions while celebrities poured in to prepare for the Kanye West mini-concert. In addition to being well secure, this event was packed with entertainment elite, including but not limited to, Bethanny Frankel from The Real Housewives of NYC, radio personality Angie Martinez, DJ Cassidy, 106 & Park's Rocsi & Terrence, fashion twins Dee & Ricky, Tory Burch, Nina Garcia, Ivanka Trump, Estelle, Epiphany Media LLC (they're responsible for Sobe Summer Fridays, which ended today) and of course on-again girl Amber Rose just few feet away.

Folks who weren't Kanye fans at the beginning of the night, definitely had a change of heart by the end of the night, as he performed music from his recent album and material from his upcoming tour with Lady Gaga that commences in October. More footage is on our youtube channel.

Event Recap: Sex and the City II Casting

You would've thought every aspiring actress, model, socialite, club-goer, and the like was in Manhattan on 18th Street (or 19th Street). WHY? In case you've been living under a rock, Tuesday, castings were held for non-speaking extras for the film, which it's been speculated will revolve around the years prior to the four ladies meeting and what lead up to their 6-season friendship.

SUprisingly, the casting (unlike that of the ANTM short cycle casting) was highly organized. People came out by the hundreds with the line wrapping around from 18th Street across 6th Avenue and back up 19th Street to 7th Avenue. See pictures of the linea fter the jump...

Event Recap: Mountain Dew Launch

The Mountain Dew soda brand will be launching a limited time offer flavor variety to hit shelves in mid-August (the 10th to be exact). To launch the drink, they hosted a “First Taste” Party for fans and followers of Mountain Dew Twitter and Facebook! This fun event was also to celebrate and create an opportunity for passionate Dew drinkers to get together and be the first ones to taste the new drop. In addition to a fun night of drinks and entertainment, free bowling was included! PepsiCo brand and marketing execs were were also around; and MMHighlights received an exclusive invite to be among the first to try this new drink along with a unique group of Dew fanatics in their element.

In addition to tasting the new Ultraviolet, MMHighlights received a VIP Kit which included the new diet drink and Limited Edition RayBan Wayfarers in Ultraviolet.

Event Recap: Eenamaria Cocktail Party

To kick off Market Week, the "urban nomad" and bag brand, eenamaria, hosted a cocktail party at Stitch in midtown. Hosted by HSN's Pamela Pekerman of Bagtrends.com, with music provided by DJ Etzi and DJ Moni, the event also celebrated the eenamaria and Wathne's 2009 collection.

Featuring an exhibition of 2010 pieces, sales of 2009 pieces, open wine bar, and a raffle for an eenamaria bag stuffed with goodies from QVC's (Three Custom Color Cosmetics), this event was a sure hit!

Week in Review!

To say this week has been a busy one for the MMHighlights team, would be an understand. In addition to the events we've been attending (Eenamaria Cocktail Party, Mountain Dew Launch Party, Sex and the City 2 Casting, G-Shock & Kanye West Event, J'Adore Fashion Show) we've ben working on a few in-house projects.

A quick (no seriously) re-cap of the events:

The Eenamaria event was held t Stitch in Midtown, where folks could purchase current collection pieces and preview the 2010 collection. Did we mention the open bar?

The Mountain Dew Launch party was for their new limited time only new diet flavor - Ultraviolet. Free bowling. Unlimited drinks. Yummy hors d'oeuvres. Addictively good soda. Great music. And so much more.

The Sex and the City casting was a refreshing surprise. Shame on ANTM for not having the same organizational skills.

In case we weren't fans of G-Shock or Kanye West before, we definitely are now. Between the oh-so-informative press conference and mini-concert, it was a night to remember. Can't forget the *ahem* open bar.

Who doesn't love a good fashion show?! The J'Adore Fashion Show featured young up and coming designers from the tri-state area.

Event Recap: HBO's New York International Latino Film Festival - Bring it On Fight to the Finish

Launched in 1999, the New York International Latino Film Festival (NYILFF) is now the premier Urban Latino film event in the country. The NYILFF's mission is to showcase the works of the hottest emerging Latino film making talent in the U.S. and Latin America, offer expansive images of the Latino experience, and celebrate the diversity and spirit of the Latino community.

NYILFF runs from Tuesday, July 28 to Sunday, August 2 at the Clearview Cinemas Chelsea 9 and the School of Visual Arts Theater. Movies that are screened this week include (but are not limited to) Fast and the Furious: Los Bandoleros, BRING IT ON FIGHT TO FINISH, Closing: The Line, and Sultanes Del Sur.

Tonight was the red carpet screening for the 5th installment of the Bring It On franchise.

Directed by Billie Woodruff (pictured right) and written by Elena Song & Alyson Fouse, Bring It On Fight to the FInish brings us the traditional cheerleading competition, with a twist. Grammy nominated singer and actress Christina Milian stars as sassy cheer captain Lina Cruz, whose world is turned upside-down when her family moves from the urban streets of East Los Angeles to the sunny beach town of Malibu. At her new school, Lina clashes with Avery (Rachele Brooke Smith), the ultra-competitive all-star cheer captain, while also falling for Avery's super-cute brother, Evan (Cody Longo). Lina's always been able to rise to a challenge,
and hopes that she and her east LA friends (Vanessa Born) can create a new all-star squad and beat Avery at the Spirit Championships.

FYI: Congo attended the red carpet premiere with girlfriend Cassie Scerbo, who starred in the 4th Bring It On installment.

We were fortunate enough to interview the director and a few of the cast members, including Ms. Milian herself.

Event Recap: SoBe Lifewater Summer Fashion Friday

To miss even one installment of Sobe Summer Fridays is to miss A Lot! They've had live performances (Asher Roth & Jeremih), hair salon booths, pool & table hockey, miniature golf, and this week FASHION!!

If you didn't get there early you more than likely missed the runway show AND the spa treatments (spots were filling up quick! Moreover, you probably got caught in the nasty weather. Despite the rain, people came out!! The line, which wrapped around the corner, hosted folks who were looking to shop the sample sales - Pegleg NYC, Mary Meyer, Secta, Jungle Gurl, Hellz Bellz, Brian Wood, Durkl 2047, and Melissa Plastic Dreams. This week's media sponsor was Nylon Magazine.

Event Recap: Avenue Pink Presents Mixer On The Ave.

Last night, the ladies over at Avenue Pink hosted Mixer On The Ave at the chic Pranna restaurant on Madison Avenue.

In today’s economy with little to no job opportunities – It’s all about who you know and who knows you. Experts agree that networking and building relationships is one of the best ways to guarantee you will get the position you desire. Avenue Pink invites young professionals and those in a transitional period to join us for a business card exchange.

The event featured yellow, chocolate, and red velvet cupcakes (mm mm...) and hot pink gift bags sponsored by Uptown Magazine and BET.

After mixing and mingling, the MMH team headed over to the exclusive (and rooftop) Highbar for Style|Stepout:

Event Recap: SoBe Lifewater Summer Fridays

Another FABULOUS Friday is the only to describe the July 17th installment of Sobe's Summer Fridays. With what seemed to be twice as many attendants, the studio was transformed from its appearance a week before - the bar was pushed back to what once was the indoor drive-thru (the anemity of the week: hair salon with services provided by Warren Tricomi); the DJ booth was moved next to the step-and-repeat, making room for the confessional and 2 photoshoots on the sides of the first floor; and more couches were added around the perimeter of the studio.

DJ Cassidy was on the 1s and 2s while the crowd sipped their free cocktails and SoBe Lifewater; and groups of friends had impromptu photo shoots.

As expected the lines were ridiculous - admission, bathrooms, spa services - but that didn't stop people from enjoying themselves.

With our gold VIP wristbands, we made our way upstairs to embark on the spa services (over booked of course, but no worries) and the plush couches and great outdoor view.

Rumour has it next Friday's featured amenity is miniature golf. Can't wait!!

Event Recap: NAACP and the NBA Present Legends & Legacy: A Salute to 100 Years of Change

Last night the NAACP and the National Basketball Retired Players Association teamed up to put on Legends & Legacy: A Salute to 100 Years of Change. This well timed event, as the NAACP celebrates its centennial, also honored the NBA players who have worked hard on and off the court to make a difference within the community. This two part event (cocktail reception/awards ceremony and after-party featuring live performance and Power 105’s DJ Self on the turntables) hosted some of the NBA’s top players of the past and present, as well as a number of VIP’s and celebrities.

Last night's guests included an extensive list of athletes and entertainment personalities:

Last Friday we attended the SoBe Lifewater Summer Fridays July 10th Edition. In attendance was the SoBe Lizard entertaining folks, not like we needed much help being entertained.

Jam packed with 2 DJs, free Ciroc + SoBe sneakers, and free spa services, it was non-stop fun!

The music could be heard down the block from the studio, which housed 2 floors of summer fun, catered by Lure. The photo booth provided instant prints & the confessional asked guests their favorite spots in NYC to make-out.

The event also featured a step and repeat when notables such as the cast of Harlem Heights and fashion twins, Dee & Ricky, could have snapshots taken.

An overall good time, SoBe Lifewater Summer Fridays is definitely where MMHighlights will be spending its next 5 Fridays. How about you??

Event Interview: Erin Lucas + David McKnight + more (C+C Launch)

In addition to the pictures & video footage we shared with you from the Concrete & Cashmere Launch this past Tuesday. We caught up with a few notables from the show for quick interviews. Interviews included MTV's Erin Lucas, Concrete & Cashmere's "Denfather" David McKnight, and cast member Jamaica Cole.

David A. McKnight
Role on the Show: as "denfather" he introduces the challenges and guests, while keeping the contestants in check.
How did he find C+C: through twitter! Someone tweeted about the castings & he auditioned to be a cast member.

Career: even though he has a background in business consulting, he currently works as a stylist & image consultant. He hopes to be a "jack of all trades" stylist - providing services for everyone from entertainment personalities to businessmen to
the everyday man/woman.

Next Project: Film Wardrobe Director for Visions of Yvette (Pierre Films) - a movie about a young girl with a promising future, who goes down the wrong path following the wrong crowd.

Preference: Behind AND in front of the camera. Enjoys the planning and the strategy that goes into a production.

Cast member Emily revealed that the experience for her wasn't an experience because she was kicked off the first episode. For Alaska native by way of Seattle, Chris, it was a great experience, but not his first with reality tv. He also did Style Me with Rachel Hunter.

Similarly to David, most of the cast members found out on social networking sites and online boards, such as twitter and craigslist. Jamaica let us in on a little secret - she applied while slightly intoxicated. Her audition tape impressed them nonetheless. Originally from Sacramento, she defined the experience as "life changing". This was her 4th time to NY, one of the other times being for the NY Fashion Connect in February for her clothing line Sapphire Cordial. She is currently living in NY with castmate Brea.

Although most of you may know her from MTV's The City, a spin-off from The Hills, Erin Lucas is definitely more than a reality tv face, but is no stranger to it. The C+C gust judge used to host a fashion podcast, and admits that she prefers hosting - "It [The City] was something different." She also informed us that even thought she taped a few episodes for The City, she made a personal decision to leave the show. Speculation has been swarming the internet regarding the reasons why.

We also caught up with the creator of the show, Michelle Murray; the winner of VH1's GlamGod and stylist, Indashio; celebrity blogger, Micah Jesse; and young designer, Edna, one half of the design team behind an African inspired line - The Hemma Collection.

Event Interview: Sketch (Def Jam 25th Anniversary)

A month or so ago, MMHighlights was fortunate enough to the attend Def Jam's 25th Anniversary at 40/40 in NYC. The event featured celebrities, drinks, great music, and the who's who in the entertainment industry. We were able to briefly speak to the young man responsible for the evening's centerpice - a mural featuring the big players from Def Jam.

The mural artist was born and raised in the Bronx, New York. Sketching for 15 years, his decision to pursue this profession was inspired by his mother. His passion has evolved - he now does murals, portraits, abstract art, cars, bikes, and traditional paintings.

His work is mostly commissioned - "this is my passion, but I need to make money too" he says as he laughs. Def Jam solicited him for this project, giving him full creative discretion. This 40 hour piece shows the DJs at the bottom bringing the light up towards the talent (singers and rappers). The mural features a party or celebration of their quarter century, with mogul Russell Simmons at the top.

Sketch mainly draws out of his Bronx home, although he also has a studio. However, for car projects, he'll go to the actual garage that's commissioned him. We asked him how do people find out about his pieces, and he revealed that after years of knocking on doors to get noticed, "they come to me now."

His largest job? - A truck which took 2 weeks. He also did a similarly large piece for 50 Cent.

His final words to us before parting ways - "This is what I was born to do!"

Event Recap: Concrete + Cashmere Launch Party

This past Tuesday night, MMHighlights was invited to the launch of Alize's new web reality series, Concrete and Cashmere. In attendance were the cast members, the creators, and a number of fashion notables - Indashio, winner from VH1's Glam God; Erin Lucas, from MTV's The City; designer twins, Dee & Ricky; and DJ Rashida from MTV's ABDC.

Event Recap: Def Jam 25th Anniversary

Last week Monday, Def Jam celebrated its 25th Anniversary at Jay's NYC 40/40. The event, which was hosted by sponsors such as Sprite,VBlast VItamin Water, and Alerte & Carter & Associates was a proverbial "who's who" of entertainment notables.

In attendance were Pooch Hall and Hosea Chanchez of CW's The Game, Cipha, Celebrity Financial, model Christina Mendez, The Heights, DJ Webstar, radio personality Egypt, actress Alexis Diaz, Dr. Michelle, and Fly Guy Family.

Later that night other names such as BET's Terrence J, Kanye West, and Mr. 40/40 himself Jay-Z were all in the building celebrating the quarter anniversary of Def Jam.

Day 26 Album release festivities. The self proclaimed "Bad Boys of R & B" have released their sophomore album today, "Forever in a Day" and will be signing their CDs at Best Buy 1028 (529 Fifth Avenue at 44th Street).

After hanging with their fans, the stars of MTB4 will be heading over to a private cocktail dinner, as the precursor to their album release party (also a private, invite only event).

Approximately 24 hours after Keri Hilson's debut in NYC, Rocawear's new social networking site, Roc4Life.com, celebrated its site launch at the Greenhouse.

The clothing company and lifestyle brand created by Jay-Z is celebrating its 10th anniversary with the social network, aimed at engaging trendsetters and fans of the brand. Members have already begun making Roc4Life.com home, uploading their own photos and videos.

Roc4Life.com includes blog posts and editorials in covering a number of topics, including (but not limited to) culture and fashion. Celebrity Stylist June Ambrose to celebrated the launch with them, and twittered the whole event.

Event Recap: Keri Hilson's Perfect World

Last Tuesday was Keri Tuesday. With the release of her album, she took over NYC with her in-store appearance & album release party. This songstress is taking over the industry with In A Perfect World, and people can't get enough. Long overdue but FINALLY here are the pics for those of you who missed it.

After leaving Wet Seal, she hit up her album release party at Pink Elephant in Chelsea. Outside of the club was anything BUT a perfect world - everyone (important or not) wanted a glimpse at the new girl.

However, not everyone was fortunate enough to get in the Pink Elephant, as bouncers alleged the club was to capacity, and was only admitting people buying tables (in lieu of the RSVP list).

Ms. Keri was rocking some Melody Ehsani jewelry pieces. She was given a perfect cake to fit into her perfect world! The rest of the night was all about popping bottles and enjoying the night with celebs including: Akon, Ron Browz, Brooke & the cast of Harlem Heights, and more. Malinda Williams, Angie Mar, and Miss Info and friends were all in the building.

The excitement of last week spilled over into this week, leaving the MMH family swamped with events and networking opportunities. These included Keri Hilson's in-store at Wet Seal and her album release arty at Pink Elephant; not to mention the Roc4Life.com launch party at The Greenhouse (picures coming soon)!

As previously mentioned, we attended a party featuring some of NYC's up and coming young black elite Friday night at PressureNYC (BowlMor Lanes). This event also served to honor Kerry Coddett's turning 22 and debuting on the scene as an emerging member of New York City's young, black elite.

As promised, we've posted some of the pics from this week's festivities. The MMHighlights family had (and has) a lot going on in its corner, but still found time to hit the town for some exclusive events.

Some MMH ladies hit Citrine Wednesday night for the "Welcome to New York Larry Hughes" Party the featured players from the NJ Nets and NY Knicks. Players from the Miami Heat also dropped by to celebrate Hughes joining the Knicks. On the 1s & 2s was Power 105's DJ Kut, St. Louis native like Hughes.

What a night that was! For more pics (long story) check out EddyShades Media. GoodGirl PR threw one heck of a party.

24 hours later, MMH was at Harlem Lanes for a Coors Light & The Shooters collabo: "Bowling With the Stars". Hosted by The Carnegie Group, with a number of celebs in attendance, The Shooters Bowling League celebrated their official launch.

The Shooters is a new and exciting industry bowling team that was founded by Nelson Tabaoda (VP Radio Promotions, G-Unit Records/Thisis50.com). The Shooters Bowling League is a trendsetting 29 members team that boasts Ed Lover (Radio Personality, Power 105.1) as team captain. DJ Whoo Kid (Shade 45/G-Unit Radio), and Juelz Santana (Artist/CEO; Skull Gang) are also key team players.

In addition to Juelz & Ed Lover, also in attendance were Nina B, Julito McCullum of The Wire, some of the Retro Kidz, G-Unit team members, and many more.

To round off the week, the MMHighlights team found themselves at BowlMor Lanes for an affair NYC's up and coming young black elite Friday night; and at a showing of Platanos & Collard Greens Saturday afternoon.

In Spring 2009, MMHighlights, in collaboration with CCNY’s Blackout Squad Dance Team and Reynoir LLC, will be celebrating a new year of fashion with MMH: À La Mode. MMHighlights fuses information dissemination with creative marketing tactics. The three have come together to display the exceptional talents of designers, models and performers. Reynoir embodies old style fused with a new swagger. Blackout Squad personifies the freedom to express oneself via dance. All the chosen participants will portray what MMHighlights, Reynoir, and Blackout represent – talented, youthful, and energetic entrepreneurs.

MMH: À La Mode is slated to take place Wednesday, April 29th, 2009 in The Great Hall of the City College of New York. It will feature independent street wear designers, who although their talent equals or surpasses that of many mainstream fashion houses, have yet to, or have been unable to, attain the acclaim and respect their work warrants; young aspiring male and female models, who, for a myriad of reasons, are unable to break into the industry to realize their full modeling potential; and lastly, a group of young performers who will entertain the audience with their vocals and choreography.

We are currently looking for participants for the runway/trunk show. This includes but is not limited to: sponsors, trunk show vendors, hair stylist(s), make-up artist(s), photographer(s), accessory coordinator, master of ceremonies, wardrobe coordinator, production crew, fashion designers, male & female models, videographer(s), DJs & live performers.
